Pentaco Sponsors Age UK's Pen Friend Initiative
Now more than ever a sense of togetherness and connection is crucial for all of us. So when Age UK Norwich asked Pentaco, along with Norwich Together Alliance to sponsor their pen friend initiative, we were delighted to be involved.
A cross-generational project, the Pen Friend Initiative has been devised to connect children and the elderly, sharing stories and experiences via uniquely designed postcards. The launch will see around fifty older people who are lonely and potentially isolated, receive a handwritten postcard asking them if they would like to be pen-pals. Not the first time we've engaged with our local communities to combat loneliness, at Pentaco we are keen to break the stigma surrounding loneliness and get people talking about their experiences to build better communities.
‘Within our close knit team, we’ve certainly experienced and shared our own experiences of loneliness throughout the various lockdowns and safety measures. However, we’re mindful that loneliness was a challenge for us and our community far before these odd times, and will be afterwards. This is why we are incredibly proud to sponsor efforts such as The Pen Friend initiative, which is helping to raise awareness about loneliness and build better communities across generations. Our work is always about building something better for the future by coming together, making the work of Norwich Together Alliance and The Pen Friend Initiative a joy to be part of for the entire Pentaco team.’
